The STABLE Program addresses post-resuscitation care and
transport of the neonate. Its focus is on critical management of glucose, temperature, oxygenation, blood pressure and infection. Emotional support of the parents is also a part of the course. The course may be taken for CEUs only or for both CEUs and the Certification/Completion Card. The Certification/Completion Card is awarded upon passing a post test. Review of the text is critical to passing the test.

Required textbook: AWHONN’s Fetal Heart Monitoring Principles and Practices, 3rd Edition Textbook.
This two-day course focuses on essential heart rate monitoring and
skills utilizing the updated NICHD terminology. Six months of clinical intrapartum experience recommended.

Day one is didactic and includes the following elements: maternal
physiologic changes of pregnancy, methods of fetal monitoring,
tracing interpretation, clinical interventions, and verbal and written
communication skills.

Day two includes interactive instruction utilizing skills stations such as internal fetal monitoring placement, and Leopold’s maneuver.


Nursing Grand Rounds provide staff nurses a forum to share clinical expertise and the best of nursing practice.
