Stormont-Vail Foundation

A Mission of Giving
Sometimes when people or places have been around for a long time doing what we expect them to do, we take them for granted. It would be easy to do that with Stormont-Vail HealthCare. Since 1884, Stormont-Vail has enhanced the quality of life in northeast Kansas, through healing, teaching, and caring. And many of us have in some way been the beneficiaries of its mission and service. Some have had the benefit of inpatient treatment or an emergency room visit. Perhaps a member of your family has discovered treatable cancer through an early screening program.

Caregivers who have been taught or trained in our school of nursing, continuing education or certification programs are found throughout the community, quietly and competently doing their work of improving health in so many ways. Directly or indirectly, Stormont-Vail has contributed to the health or healing for most of us in the region. As generations before, you have counted on Stormont-Vail's care. You too can help ensure that generations to come can do the same.

Giving – The Natural Response to Receiving
Gratitude and loyalty to institutions that make our world a better place are easy to express. We need simply to give something in return. Some give time, others give talent and some give their treasures. The Stormont-Vail Foundation offers all who wish to give many options to do so.

Giving Made a Difference in 2007
Thanks to charitable donations during the previous year, the Stormont-Vail Foundation was able to help improve the health of the community by supporting patient care services and community health education programs in many ways:

  • Immediate health care services for more than 3,300 patients covering nearly 6,400 health care needs when traditional resources were unavailable (the Care Line)
  • Child safety car seats for children
  • Positioning aids for neonatal babies
  • Sophisticated human simulator equipment for nursing students and Stormont-Vail clinical educators
  • “HealthWise...After 55," a wellness and health education television program
  • Health education materials and videos for patients, families and the community
  • Capital equipment and supplies for the Neonatal IntensiveCare department and the Breastfeeding Clinic
  • 203 scholarships awarded through the Baker University School of Nursing
  • 5 Allied Health Scholarships
  • Continuing Education Grants for patient care staff
