Stormont-Vail’s Fall Issue of Healthy Times: New Medical Intensivist Program; Health Literary

(Topeka, Aug. 28, 2008) – A new interdisciplinary group led by specialty-trained physicians has resulted in a new patient care approach in the Critical Care Unit at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center. The new medical intensivist program at Stormont-Vail places the hospital among a select group of hospitals nationwide that have developed such programs.

Called the Medical Intensivist Program, it provides an interdisciplinary review daily of each patient’s plan of care. The new program is highlighted in the Fall 2008 issue of Stormont-Vail’s Healthy Times free quarterly community publication.

  • Health Literacy is a huge issue for some patients and their health care providers. Working to have a better understanding of the issue and create a plan to assist patients is being addressed both locally and nationally.
  • Volunteering builds stronger communities. Learn how both the volunteer and the people being helped benefit from volunteerism.
