(Topeka, Kan., Jan. 27, 2010) – Stormont-Vail HealthCare and Cotton-O'Neil announce today that pediatric hematologist/oncologist, Jakica Tancabelic, M.D., has joined the Cotton-O'Neil medical staff. Originally from Croatia, Dr. Tancabelic most recently has been affiliated with the University of Kansas School of Medicine, where she has served as the Chief of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology since 2007.
Dr. Tancabelic received her medical degree from the University of Rijeka Medical School, Rijeka, Croatia, in 1980. She completed an internship at Ogulin General Hospital, Ogulin, Croatia, in 1981. After relocating to the U.S., she completed a Pediatric Residency program at the University of Wisconsin, Marshfield, Wis., in 1995. Dr. Tancabelic then completed a fellowship program in pediatric hematology/oncology at Columbia University, New York, in 1998.
Dr. Tancabelic is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology. She has clinical interests in pediatric blood disorders including anemia, congenital anemia, hemophilia and thrombosis, sickle cell disease and pediatric oncology.
