Hospitalists

A hospitalist is a physician who does not have an outpatient medical practice and dedicates 100 percent of his/her time providing inpatient care. The hospitalist admits patients referred by primary care physicians and then cares for the patient for the entire hospital stay. After the patient is discharged, the hospitalist returns the patient's care to his or her primary care physician.
