Adult Program (18 and older)
To qualify as a volunteer at Stormont-Vail HealthCare, we ask that adult volunteers attend a personal interview with Volunteer Services staff, complete an application and orientation packet which includes two references and criminal background check. Please note that submitting an application to Volunteer Services does not obligate Stormont-Vail HealthCare to provide a volunteer placement, nor are volunteers obligated to accept the position offered.
Depending upon your placement location, you will be asked to purchase and wear the approved uniform. It is also mandatory for all new volunteers to undergo Tuberculin Skin Testing (PPD). This skin test is performed by the Employee Relations office at no charge to volunteers. You will also be asked to update your file, including a review of policies and procedures, as required. Training sessions for the area you volunteer are also conducted periodically and you are encouraged to participate.
Orientation and training materials will include a review of hospital policies and procedures, safety and environmental care training, HIPAA & confidentiality requirements, and assignment-specific training as required.
Volunteering at Stormont-Vail HealthCare is not a pre-requisite for employment at Stormont-Vail. From time to time departments may hire volunteers who have demonstrated they meet the qualifications of a job applied for; however, preference is not given to volunteers in the hiring process.
Individuals seeking employment should visit the Employment link on the Stormont-Vail HealthCare website.
