Stormont Vail Health Welcomes George Evans, M.D., to Family Medicine Team
Stormont Vail Health is proud to welcome Dr. George Evans, a board-certified family medicine physician with more than 25 years of experience, to the Family Medicine team. Dr. Evans’s family medicine background and expertise in treating chronic diabetes, coronary artery disease, and chronic high blood pressure will enhance the services provided at the Cotton O’Neil North Clinic, 4505 N.W. Fielding Rd., Topeka.
A Topeka native, Dr. Evans serves the community he’s called home his entire life. Growing up, he often cared for older loved ones as they aged, which opened his eyes to medicine’s impact on people’s lives. A football injury and subsequent knee surgery his sophomore year at Hayden High School led him to consider a medical career. After completing his undergraduate degree at Washburn University, Dr. Evans began his medical studies at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. There, he initially considered specializing in orthopedics and then oncology. However, as he explored various medical fields, his experience in family medicine rotations solidified his desire to provide comprehensive care to people of all ages.
“Having practiced medicine for 25 years, I’ve seen tremendous changes, but my dedication to positively impacting my patients’ lives remains the same,” Dr. Evans said. “It’s the personal connections and the shared journeys towards better health that keep me passionate about what I do.”
Dr. Evans’s approach is rooted in understanding and respect. He is committed to improving his patients’ health and ensuring they feel valued and heard. His focus on understanding his patients’ lives and tailoring treatments to their unique needs and goals reflects his dedication to personalized care.
Patients seeking a family medicine physician who values personal connections will find a dedicated provider in Dr. Evans, who now accepts new patients. Please call the Cotton O’Neil North Clinic at (785) 270-0080 (select the first option) to schedule an appointment.
Cancer Center Team Has Poster Presentation at National Conference
This year’s AAPM 2024, the 66th annual meeting of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine included a poster presentation with some familiar names – that of Yun Wang, Ph.D., physicist at the Cotton O’Neil Cancer Center, as well as other Stormont Vail team members: Kirby Wittenbach, CMD, Mary Kay Jackson, CMD, and John Ma, M.D., Ph.D., radiation oncologist.
The poster was entitled “Analyzing the Quality of the SBRT Treatments Using the Portal Dosimetry (PD) Device.” SBRT is stereotactic body radiation therapy, which is a type of radiation therapy that uses many beams of energy. The beams are targeted to focus on growth of cells or tumors.
The conference was held at the end of July in Los Angeles. Congratulations to this team for having their work presented and recognized!
Congratulations to Dr. Jansen for Being Named “Best Pediatrician”
When it comes to being the “Best Pediatrician” in Emporia, the people have spoken – and it is Christy Jansen, M.D.
Dr. Jansen, who serves patients at the Cotton O’Neil Emporia Clinic, was recently recognized in the Emporia Gazette’s Reader’s Choice Awards for the Best Pediatrician category. Dr. Jansen has cared for newborns through older youth for a number of years, and has been there to support many families during those “growing up” years.
Congratulations, Dr. Jansen. Thank you for taking care of our community, starting with our youngest patients.
We together,
Dr. Kenagy
