Walk With a Doc this Saturday with Dr. Traci Cuevas
Are you looking to reduce the risk of hospital readmission while recovering from an injury? Want to avoid a hospital visit altogether?
Join Dr. Traci Cuevas, a Post-Acute Care specialist at Stormont Vail’s Topeka hospital for tips on preventing injuries, managing recovery, and supporting loved ones at Walk with a Doc this Saturday. The walk will start at 9 a.m. at Washburn University, east side of Lee Arena. The walk is outdoors, weather permitting, otherwise it will be moved indoors.
This month’s event is an excellent opportunity for anyone navigating health challenges or supporting a loved one’s recovery. Whether you’re a caregiver or a family member, learning more about post-acute care can make a difference!
Celebrating Exceptional Care: Nikki Stratham, DAISY Award Recipient
Nikki Strathman, RN on 7 South, recently received the DAISY Award for her exceptional efforts to create a safe and supportive environment for her patients. Her story highlights the impact kindness and attentiveness can make. It’s a great reminder to show each other the same thoughtfulness and care Nikki shows her patients!
“To Your Health” on WIBW-TV Tonight
A new blood test approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration earlier this year that helps screen for colon cancer will be the topic of tonight’s WIBW To Your Health. The blood test may provide early warning signs that need follow up, but does not replace colonscopies.
Stormont Vail oncologist Alec Britt, M.D., will share more information about this test on the To Your Health segment that airs at 10 p.m. on WIBW-TV, Channel 13. The segment typically repeats at 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. Fridays on 13 News This Morning and is posted on wibw.com.
Holiday a Time for Reflecting
We are definitely in the midst of the holidays – a time that can bring cheer, fun, togetherness, reflection…and stress. It’s an important to practice gratitude and to give others grace as they may be experiencing situations, sadness or emotions that are challenging.
The holidays are a time to remember the individuals and teams who pull together for the greater good, like our team at Stormont Vail Health. Our team daily puts our patients first, providing amazing care and navigating complex situations. Thank you.
We together,
Dr. Kenagy
