Celebrate Stormont Vail Nurses during Nurses Week
It’s one of our favorite weeks to celebrate – National Nurses Week. The theme for 2023 is “Braver, Stronger, Smarter” and there isn’t a more accurate description of the nurses at Stormont Vail. We take enormous pride in every level of nurse working on our team, serving in our hospitals and clinics, spending countless hours keeping our communities, families, and selves safe.
Our nurses should be very proud of their dedication and the work they do to better the lives around them. Please take time out of your week to recognize and thank the amazing nurses you know and work with. Together, we are Braver, Stronger, Smarter. Watch this video, dedicated to all of our nurses, as we celebrate you all week!
We will also celebrate our nurses at our annual Excellence in Nursing Awards ceremony. DAISY Award winners, contribution ladder recipients and nominees and awardees in Excellence in Nursing will be recognized. The event will start at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Pozez Auditorium in Topeka.
Stormont Vail Well Represented at Leadership Greater Topeka Event
Stormont Vail Health was well represented on the stage of the Leadership Greater Topeka gala and graduation event last week. Chad Yeager, Vice President, Clinical Quality, graduated from this year’s program that provides tools to lead for the greater good. LGT Alumni Awards were also presented to two Stormont Vail representatives. Ryan Bishop, Video Production Specialist, Marketing, received the Rising Star Award for demonstrating leadership in his daily life and working to better the community. Michel’ Cole, a member of the Stormont Vail Board of Directors and retiree of Evergy, received the Marsha Sheahan Legacy Award, which honors a community professional who has demonstrated unwavering leadership throughout their career. Congratulations to each of you!
Just Another Magnet Monday Podcast – Episode 10: Nurses Week – Braver, Smarter, Stronger
Episode ten of Just Another Magnet Monday dives into our Small Moments culture and what it means to be braver, smarter, stronger – the theme of this year’s nurses week.
Chief Nursing Officer Carol Perry, MollyPatt Eyestone from Marketing and Communications, and Julia Donaldson, RN, talk about how Jean Watson’s theory fits into our Small Moments culture, how small acts of kindness may seem minimal to you, but can be going life-changing to patients. They also discuss how to celebrate one another and to recognize when your teammates need acknowledgement.
You can listen to episode ten of Just Another Magnet Monday here on stormontvail.org or through Apple. You can also listen while you’re on the go, on your personal devices, through Spotify – just search “Just Another Magnet Monday.”
Sports Physical Clinic This Saturday
Cotton O’Neil Orthopedics and Sports Medicine will host a sports physical day from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at Cotton O’Neil Kanza Park, 2660 S.W. 3rd St. Topeka. The sports physicals given at this clinic will be valid for the 2023/2024 sports season.
The event is open to all middle school and high school student athletes. Each physical will cost $20 by cash, check, or card. The student athletes do not have to be an active patient of Stormont Vail or Cotton O’Neil. This is a great opportunity to get that sports physical checked off the list for 2023/24. We hope to see your student athlete(s) there!
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and what an enormous reason to celebrate. We are grateful to all of the teachers and educators throughout our community who dedicate their time to bettering and readying our children for the future. We would also like to extend a very special thank you to all of our team members at Building Blocks who are dedicated to making sure our little ones are safe, happy, and healthy every day. Thank you, teachers!
We together,
Dr. Kenagy
