Stormont Vail Health is proud to recognize Libby Rosen, PhD, RN, as the Baker University School of Nursing Dean on Stormont Vail’s campus. She was appointed as the Interim Dean in October of 2021 and named the permanent Dean on January 1, 2022.
Rosen’s nursing days started at the Stormont Vail School of Nursing when she graduated in the mid-1970s. After graduation she started as a registered nurse in labor and delivery, helped start the first freestanding birth center in Kansas before returning to Stormont Vail for work. Rosen has worked at Stormont Vail as a nurse in neonatal intensive care, labor and delivery, been a nurse supervisor, unit director, coordinator, and teacher of child and parenting classes. She is also part of the team who created and developed the Breastfeeding Center at Stormont Vail.
Rosen completed her Bachelor’s in Nursing from Washburn University in 1994 before earning her PhD in Nursing, Summa Cum Laude from The University of Kansas Medical Center in 2009. While working toward her PhD, Rosen became an instructor with Baker University School of Nursing at Stormont Vail in obstetrics, pediatrics, and leadership. She started teaching full time a few years later as a professor with tenure on nursing research and theory, while also helping develop Baker’s Graduate program for nursing.
Rosen has received dozens of awards and recognitions throughout her career. To name a few:
- Nurse of the Year for School of Nursing Educator by KU School of Nursing in 2014
- Teaching Excellence award by the faculty and class at Baker University School of Nursing; December 2019, May 2018, December 2015, May 2013
- Two-time winner of the Janet Sevier Gilbreath Special Project Recognition that helped fund Stormont Vail’s OB Nurse Navigator Program
Rosen knows nursing, Stormont Vail, and the Baker nursing program like the back of her hand. This knowledge will help her lead the program as students learn and gain clinical experience in Stormont Vail. Our organization could not be more thrilled to have Libby Rosen serve as the dean of Baker University School of Nursing.
