Dr. George Wright is Ingram’s Top Doctor
Congratulations to Dr. George Wright, Vice President, Primary Care Services, for being named a 2022 Ingram’s Magazine Top Doctor. Dr. Wright, who also has a family medicine practice along with his leadership role, is featured in the October issue of Ingram’s. The article tells how he began his career volunteering as an orderly in a medical center that ultimately inspired him to become a physician.
The article also highlights Dr. Wright’s experiences in medicine, serving in the military and then starting his practice at Cotton O’Neil Clinic and Stormont Vail Health. When the COVID-19 pandemic began, he was serving as Medical Director of Family Medicine, then moved into the vice president role. Dr. Wright explained how the pandemic served as a catalyst to develop the Enhanced Primary Care program, increase access to care through telemedicine and more.
Dr. Wright reflected on his career, but said he does not have a defining moment or patient that crystallized his purpose in medicine. “I’ve cared for multiple generations of families and delivered babies of those I delivered. I’ve shared patients’ highs and lows, private worries and special joys, early mornings and late nights, first breaths, and the last ones. I’ve watched my patients play sports, enjoy their activities, and been hugged at the grocery store.
“I’ve been honored and humbled that my patients have trusted me to provide their health care and considered me a friend and a part of their family.” Congratulations, Dr. Wright, and thank you for taking such good care of patients and families, and for your wonderful leadership to our team and organization.
“To Your Health” on WIBW-TV Tonight – Patient is Pilot for a Day
The 190th Air Refueling Wing sponsored Tinley Benyshek, a pediatric patient at the Cotton O’Neil Cancer Center, to be an honorary pilot for a day. Tinley’s experience will be shared on tonight’s “To Your Health” segment on WIBW-TV. Tinley and her family were welcomed earlier this week at the 190th base, where she was given a flight suit and patches, sat in on operation meetings, stepped inside the jet with the crew, and had a special fly over dedicated just to her! Tinley also enjoyed her favorite meal, cheese pizza, with crew members.
Tinley’s adventure will be on the “To Your Health” segment at 10 p.m. on WIBW-TV, Channel 13. The segment will typically repeat at 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. Fridays on 13 News This Morning and be posted on wibw.com.
Emporia Clinic Team’s Donation Totals 1,568 Food Items
The team at the Emporia Clinic not only “Packed the Pantry” with donated food items to help those with food insecurity in the community – they filled up the interior and bed of an extended cab pickup until it was overflowing with food donations. The team’s final total was 1,568 donated food items. The initial goal for the clinic team to collect for the “Pack the Pantry” community drive was 200 items, which they far exceeded. Thank you to all who participated in helping others.
Stormont Vail Team Represents at Pink Power Luncheon in Manhattan
Team members from across the organization attended the Kansas State University Johnson Cancer Research Center Pink Power Luncheon this week. The Stormont Vail team heard inspiring stories from three breast cancer survivors and their families, which amplify the importance of education, awareness and research.
Stormont Vail’s Clinical Research Center, Cancer Center, and Cardiovascular teams have supported research efforts, working directly with cancer patients, made possible by a partnership with the Johnson Cancer Research Center. Stormont Vail is proud to partner with the community and Kansas State University in the fight against cancer.
Say “Thank You” During National Respiratory Care Week
Stormont Vail Health has more than 60 Respiratory Therapists who can be found in all critical care units and patient care floors, the Emergency Department, Pulmonary Lab, Sleep Lab, and more caring for patients. Respiratory Therapists are part of the Trauma Team and manage life-support equipment, provide diagnostic testing, as well as state-of-the art therapies to improve a patient’s lung health. As always, but especially over the last few years, respiratory therapists have gone above and beyond to provide quality and compassionate care to patients. We want to thank them during this National Respiratory Care Week for all they do!
