“To Your Health” on WIBW-TV Tonight” – Partnering with the Topeka Zoo
Don’t miss tonight’s WIBW-TV “To Your Health” segment at 10 p.m. featuring Dr. Kenneth Fearn, Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, who provides services at Stormont Vail Health, and the Topeka Zoo’s Shanna Simpson. You’ll learn how the two organizations have partnered together to get beloved orangutan, Mawas, in for a CT scan. This was a routine scan as animals need procedural check-ups similar to humans!
Tonight’s story will explain the team effort that goes into caring for our entire community – animals included – with proper hygiene, support, and knowledge to keep everyone safe and healthy. Plus, hear how an orangutan’s anatomy compares to yours! The segment will air at 10 p.m. on WIBW-TV, Channel 13. The segment will typically repeat at 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. Fridays on 13 News This Morning and be posted on wibw.com.
DAISY Winner: Madisson Hennes, RN, Spine Center
The DAISY Award was established to celebrate nurses who show extraordinary compassion to their patients every day and according to our patients, Madisson Hennes goes above and beyond in that effort. To read a few excerpts from her nominations see below or read them in full at https://www.daisyfoundation.org/daisy-award/honorees/madisson-hennes
“Words cannot express the care Madi provided. You can tell she finds her job of helping people recover rewarding. She is caring, uplifting, and always encourages patients to keep going.”
“If Madi connects to all patients the way she did with me, I bet there’s a very high recovery rate on that floor!” Congratulations, Madi, and thank you for all the great care you provide our patients!
Reports about Spoofing Phone Numbers
In recent weeks, we have had reports of Stormont Vail phone numbers being spoofed so people receiving a call may think it is a call from Stormont Vail, when in fact it is not. It’s important to know that malicious actors (hackers) can spoof any phone number they want and even add a name to that spoofed number. If we were to block the spoofed number it would block it for the actual owner of that number.
Personal cell phones and cellular providers have tools that can be used to block spam and malicious callers. It is recommended individuals research and utilize those on personal mobile devices.
In some cases, patients have reported receiving calls or messages from Stormont Vail and when they make a return call to determine what the message is about, it is obvious they had received a call from a scammer. Please be aware of this situation in the event you have a patient requesting information about a situation like this.
Please educate patients they should not give any information to callers they do not know, or have concerns about it being a valid call. All calls from Stormont employees from a Stormont phone will display the Stormont Vail general number (785-354-6000) regardless of which department they call from.
We together,
Dr. Kenagy
