We Celebrate Chelsea Stanwix RN, DAISY Award Recipient
Nurses go above and beyond daily to care for patients and families during their most vulnerable moments. For Chelsea Stanwix, RN, at Stormont Vail Health Medical Surgical, taking time to support each patient’s comfort and dignity lies at the core of her profession. For this reason, we celebrate Chelsea for receiving the DAISY Award.
The DAISY Award celebrates and recognizes nurses who go the extra mile as a way to thank them for the care and kindness they provide. As a registered nurse on Six South with the Medical Surgical department, Chelsea works with the healthcare team to implement healthcare plans, administer medications, and prepare patients for surgical procedures.
In addition, Chelsea also delivers empathetic and compassionate treatment at the bedside, as she did with the patient who nominated her.
“Chelsea knew I had a great fear of receiving my second feeding tube replacement within a few weeks,” the patient wrote in their nomination. “She took the time to comfort me and get me what I requested, whatever the task was. My illness is very painful, and Chelsea made sure I never had to wait for my pain medication.
“Most importantly, Chelsea has a wonderful bedside manner, which makes the patient willing to trust the nurse. I know my daughter was more relaxed because I was, too. In the last ten years since I’ve been diagnosed with terminal autonomic dystrophy, I’ve never had a nurse as good as Chelsea.”
Chelsea, congratulations on winning the DAISY Award! You model the consistency, care, and kindness patients expect daily from nursing professionals. Thank you for your tireless dedication to others and the nursing profession.
