Stormont Vail Health Welcomes Lincoln Center OB/GYN Jessica Kieffer, M.D.
Stormont Vail Health proudly welcomes Dr. Jessica Kieffer, an OB/GYN specializing in reproductive medicine and pregnancy care, to the Stormont Vail Women’s Services team. Dr. Kieffer delivers various women’s health services in the Stormont Vail OB/GYN-Lincoln Center, 800 S.W. Lincoln.
A lifelong Kansan, Dr. Kieffer lived in the close-knit Mayetta community before relocating to pursue her medical career. After obtaining her B.S. in Organismal Biology at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, she completed her first two years of medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City.
Dr. Kieffer completed her remaining two years of medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita. She initially began her residency training in family medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita at Wesley Hospital, where she discovered her passion for women’s health and transitioned to OB/GYN residency in her third year. Specifically, she found passion in advocating for women to have the labor and birth experience they want.
“I’ve gone through the uncertainty of an unplanned induction, protracted labor resulting in an emergency C-section, and suffered some trauma from the process,” Dr. Kieffer said. “It’s absolutely changed the way I care for people. It’s impacted how I counsel patients and prepare them in the office for potential outcomes. I have a new level of kindness and compassion that existed before but carries a different tone of empathy.”
Shortly after finishing her education journey, Dr. Kieffer joined the Lincoln Center OB/GYN team in Topeka, where she uses her professional and personal experiences to help women feel comfortable and empowered in their options and care. Dr. Kieffer is accepting new patients at the Stormont Vail OB/GYN Lincoln Center—call (785) 233-5101 to book an appointment.
Congratulations, Isaac Littlejohn – February Person of the Moment
Facilities management professionals are the cornerstone of an effective environment of care. These professionals play an important, though often hidden, role in preparing facilities to meet patient and team members’ needs.
At the crossroads between patient care and facility solutions, facility specialists like Isaac Littlejohn make an impact every day. For this reason, we proudly recognize Isaac as February’s Person of the Moment. Take a moment to recognize Isaac and read his story.
Stormont Vail to Participate in Statewide Tornado Drill Wednesday
At 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, Stormont Vail Health will participate in the Kansas statewide tornado drill. Drills such as these are all about ensuring our ability to keep patients, visitors, team members, faculty and students safe. As part of the drill, a Tornado Watch will be issued at 10 a.m., followed by a Tornado Warning at 11 a.m. with Threat Assessment Team Activation at 10:45 a.m. All Clear will be called at 11:15 a.m. Please note that some alerts vary by location.
Prior to the drill, all teams should review guidance for clinical and non-clinical teams. It is important that everyone understand policies and procedures – and ask if you have questions about what to do during severe weather. No patients are to be moved during the drill event.
We together,
Dr. Kenagy
