Respiratory Therapist of the Year Award 2024
Lindsay Moore Named KRCS 2024 Respiratory Therapist of the Year in the State of Kansas
Respiratory therapists (RTs) work closely with physicians and other practitioners across various settings, from hospitals to long-term care facilities to home care. The patients and conditions RTs treat are as diverse as the settings in which they work, ranging from infants with acute problems to older adults with chronic or long-term disorders.
Stormont Vail Health’s Lead Clinical Educator Respiratory Therapy Simulation, Lindsay Moore, MBA, RRT, pulls double duty as both teacher and facilitator by mentoring clinical team members to identify opportunities for growth and education. She’s also responsible for fostering mutual respect and trust among team members and implementing motivational strategies from the individual to the organizational level.
Naturally, fulfilling these responsibilities is a tall order, but for Lindsay, it’s simply part of a job she loves. For this reason, we proudly recognize Lindsay for being named the 2024 Respiratory Therapist of the Year in the State of Kansas from the Kansas Respiratory Care Society (KRCS)!
The KRCS is a non-profit organization that supports Kansas respiratory care practitioners. The Respiratory Therapist of the Year Award in the State of Kansas recognizes an RT who made a significant difference in healthcare.
“Lindsay isn’t just the most knowledgeable RT I’ve ever worked with; she’s also the most innovative educator and passionate advocate for the field I can imagine!” Lindsay’s nomination read. “Lindsay has transformed Stormont Vail Health’s simulation education program by expanding our offerings to help clinical roles better understand respiratory functions, pathophysiology, and treatment.”
To qualify for nomination, candidates must work in the state of Kansas and maintain an active membership with the American Association for Respiratory Care/KRCS. Additionally, they must demonstrate three key criteria:
- Contributions to the science, technology, ethics, and the art of respiratory therapy
- Excellence in the practice of respiratory therapy as an RRT or CRT
- Contribution to the growth of the field as evidenced by their clinical practice and participation in professional activities
Lindsay, we admire your desire to uplift everyone around you through your team-driven spirit and commitment to high quality respiratory care. You make our organization better, and we can’t express our appreciation enough. Thank you for everything you do – and congratulations on your well-deserved achievement!

Lindsay isn’t just the most knowledgeable respiratory therapist (RT) I’ve ever worked with; she’s also the most innovative educator and passionate advocate for the field I can imagine! Lindsay has transformed Stormont Vail Health’s simulation education program by expanding our offerings to help clinical roles better understand respiratory functions, pathophysiology, and treatment.
She’s also developed new training courses to teach clinical teams how to use ventilators, advocated for more robust education for respiratory therapists (RTs), and played a significant role in building respect and relationships between our health system’s nursing and respiratory teams.
As an educator, Lindsay’s influence on her students has improved the care of exponentially more patients than she would as a direct patient care therapist alone. She is truly an impressive representative of the respiratory therapy field and makes an incredible difference in healthcare every day!
