Security Measures

Metal detectors can identify items that may compromise the safety of those in the hospital. These detectors are a common practice in healthcare and other settings and offer an additional safety measure to ensure a positive experience for our patients, their loved ones, and our team.

Any individual going through the main hospital entrance, ER entrance, and at the Behavioral Health Center is required to walk through the metal detectors 24/7. Anyone previously screened who leaves must be rescreened before returning.

No. Team members are not required to go through the metal detectors if their badge is present and visible.

No. Please inform the security team present at the detectors of your medical device, like a pacemaker, or if you require mobility assistance before you pass through and you will be screened with a handheld device.

Per our policies, any personal item that is considered a weapon is not allowed on our campus or inside our hospital. This includes any handgun, long gun, any type or style of knife, sharp tools, razors, ammunition for firearms, or any object that Stormont Vail’s security team feels presents a threat. You will be asked to return any weapon to your locked vehicle.

In the event of the discovery of a firearm or weapon during the inspection, the person will be allowed to take the firearm or weapon back to their vehicle.

Yes. All baggage, briefcases, purses, backpacks, sacks, baby carriers, patient gifts, etc., will be inspected for weapons by the assistant at the metal detection post. You will be asked to empty your pockets and leave your bags on a table beside the detector for the security team to evaluate. People declining searches of their items will not be allowed to bring the articles into the facility.
