Safe Kids Kansas Annual Awards 2023
Francine Gollub Achieves Service Recognition Award for Contributions to Childhood Injury Prevention
For Francine Gollub, a child life specialist since 2016, promoting children’s wellbeing is more than a career – it’s a calling. Since joining Stormont Vail seven years ago, Francine has become a leader in child passenger safety efforts in Shawnee County. She collaborates with community organizations to provide families with resources and mentorship to ensure they feel confident their children ride as safely as possible.
Safe Kids Kansas recognized Francine’s contributions with a Service Recognition Award during its Annual Awards on Dec. 5, 2024. Safe Kids Kansas Annual Awards recognize outstanding contributions by individuals, coalitions, organizations, and businesses toward reducing unintentional injury to Kansas children.
Francine attributes her passion for child passenger safety to her boss, Rachel Ault, RN, Inpatient Pediatric Nurse Manager, and the Co-Coordinator for Safe Kids Shawnee County.
“As my mentor, Rachel has opened my eyes to many child safety needs within the community, and child passenger safety is one of those,” Francine said. “She encouraged me to become a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician. I learned so much about how often children go improperly restrained and barriers to children’s safety while riding in a vehicle. I’ve been a CPST for over four years, and helping others and educating families on child passenger safety continuously motivates me.”
When Francine isn’t providing exceptional care at the Stormont Vail Health Maternal and Fetal Medicine department or advocating in the community, she enjoys traveling (especially to Miami to visit family), watching Chiefs and Mizzou football, and doing any kinds of puzzles, card, or trivia games.
Congratulations, Francine! Thank you for making our community a safer place for everyone.
