Athletic Training Outreach Program
Through our Athletic Training Outreach Program, we partner with USD 501, Washburn University, Seaman High School, and other rural schools to provide on-site care for student-athletes where it matters most: the sidelines, practice fields, and gyms. It’s one way we support kids’ BEST—not just in the clinic, but in the classroom, on the field, and throughout the communities we serve.
Meet the Team Behind the Team
As part of our Athletic Training Outreach Program, our ATCs do more than prevent and treat injuries. They build trust with students, collaborate with coaches, and foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and resilience. Common Sports Injuries
The types of injuries athletes sustain vary based on the sport they play. However, sports injuries can be classified into two groups — acute injuries that happen suddenly and chronic injuries that develop over time.
Acute sports injuries include:
- Broken bones
- Concussions
- Dislocations
- Knee injuries (such as ACL and meniscus tears)
- Rotator cuff tears
- Sprains and strains
Chronic sports injuries include:
- Achilles tendon injuries (most common in runners)
- Runner’s knee
- Stress fractures
- Tennis elbow
