Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery

Available at the Topeka Campus.

The Cotton-O’Neil Heart Center is a regional cardiothoracic and vascular surgical services leader. Our founding partners performed Northeast Kansas’s first open-heart surgery at Stormont Vail Topeka Campus Hospital in 1975.

Today, our surgeons continue to lead the field by utilizing innovative, minimally invasive cardiothoracic and vascular surgical procedures. Our fellowship-trained, board-certified specialists have over 50 years of combined surgical experience and practice the latest trends in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, including:

The Cotton O’Neil Neurosurgery and Spine Center provides leading neurology care for people with complex brain, spine, and nervous system conditions. Our surgeons trained at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, a leading academic medical center, research institution, and patient care provider.

Our neurology and neurosurgery specialists utilize cutting-edge equipment and technology to offer comprehensive neurological treatment for various brain and spine disorders, including:

Ophthalmologic Surgery

We offer everything from regular eye exams to complex eye surgery at the Cotton O’Neil Ophthalmology clinic in Topeka.

Orthopedic Surgery

According to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, musculoskeletal impairments affect 1 in 7 Americans. Arthritis, congenital deformities, sports-related injuries, or normal joint wear and tear can cause musculoskeletal injuries.

Cotton O’Neil Orthopedics and Sports Medicine experts treat injuries to the muscles, nerves, tendons, joints, cartilage, and spinal discs caused by overuse, trauma, or acute or chronic conditions.

Our orthopedic surgical services include:

Trauma

Available at the Topeka Campus.

Stormont Vail is Northeast Kansas’s only Level II trauma center designated by the American College of Surgeons. Our trauma surgeons provide a full range of around-the-clock surgical procedures with a fully equipped team of on-site surgical and healthcare professionals.

To ensure the highest level of care for critically injured patients in the Topeka area, Stormont Vail Topeka Campus partners with city and county emergency services to offer TraumaCare, a program to provide rapid response services to injured patients.
