Forensic Nurse Team Represents Stormont Vail at Concealed Revealed
The Stormont Vail forensic nursing team represented our organization at the Concealed Revealed event the past weekend benefitting the YWCA Center for Safety and Empowerment. Our Stormont Vail team works closely with this program to assist victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence and human trafficking in northeast Kansas. Stormont Vail was a sponsor of the event, and our forensic nursing team was recognized during the event for all that they do to provide medical forensic care to patients who have experienced acts of violence or trauma.
Stormont Vail has the largest forensic nursing team in the state of Kansas to support child and adult abuse victims that may result from sexual assault, child abuse, human trafficking or domestic violence. Led by Forensic Nurse Supervisor Sarah Evans-Simpson, MSN-FN, RN, TCRN, SANE-A, SANE-P, the team is made up of specially trained nurses throughout the health system. Attending the event along with Sarah were Naomi Foster, Kelsie Moore, and Teresa Taylor.
Emporia Team Members Participate in Working Women After Hours Event
Stormont Vail Health Emporia Clinic team members Alicia Criger, Clinic Nurse Manager, Beth Weimer, Nurse Manager, and Dr. Lauren Miller-Gifford recently participated in the 41st annual Working Women After Hours event in Emporia. They had a great time interacting with community members and shared information about our Emporia Clinic. Thanks for representing Stormont Vail so well!
Stormont Vail at Coffee and Conversation in Emporia
Mary Martell, Vice President of Strategy and Regional Development, and Dr. Kevin Dishman, M.D., Senior Vice President and Chief Medical and Quality Officer, met with members of the Emporia business community last week as part of a regular series hosted by the Emporia Chamber of Commerce. It was a great opportunity to talk about Stormont Vail’s mission and to share our focus on providing high quality health care across our region.
April Recognitions to Put on Your Calendar
As spring blossoms, April brings a renewed focus on health and well-being. This month highlights a range of important health recognitions and observances, from Autism Acceptance Month to Black Maternal Health Week. Don’t forget Physician and Provider Recruitment Professionals Week or Health Information Management Week, which start April 21.
April is also a time to celebrate Occupational Therapy Month, when we can recognize the invaluable contributions of the inpatient and outpatient Occupational Therapists at Stormont Vail. Our OTs and COTAs (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants) play a critical role in helping patients regain independence and function during their hospital stay and in the clinics. These initiatives remind us of the power of advocacy, prevention, and support in building healthier communities.
We together,
Dr. Kenagy
