Dialogue Coffee House to Open New Location at Stormont Vail Health Administrative Center
Stormont Vail Health, Capper Foundation, and Dialogue Coffee House recently unveiled their plans to bring a new Dialogue location to the Stormont Vail Administrative Center located at 400 S.W. 8th St.
Set to open in April 2025, the new location will be Dialogue’s fifth coffee house in Topeka and will reinforce both organizations’ commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and the empowerment of all individuals in the community, regardless of ability.
“We are excited to open the new Dialogue Coffee House location at our new Administrative Center,” said Page Bachman, Senior Vice President and Chief Experience Officer at Stormont Vail. “We feel there is strong alignment between the missions of Dialogue Coffee, Capper Foundation, and Stormont Vail, and we’re proud to partner with an organization that is dedicated to supporting and uplifting every individual in our community.”
Founded in 2019, and officially partnering with Capper Foundation in April 2023, Dialogue has continued to support the employment and advancement of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities providing safe spaces for community members to feel valued, enjoy independence, and access valuable career training.
The expansion provides additional individuals living with disabilities to learn life skills, earn a paycheck, and find purpose in their work so they can be contributing members of our society. The location at the Stormont Vail Administrative Center will be not open to the public.
Baker University School of Nursing Celebrates Commitment to Compassion
Baker School of Nursing (BSON) students and attending nurses reaffirmed their dedication to compassionate care at BSON’s annual Commitment to Compassion Ceremony. Each nursing student received a pin representing their school and dedication. The 46 nursing students recognized received their pins from either a family member, friend, or staff.
Historically, students wore caps that denoted schooling levels completed and were designed by Marjorie Honstead, Acting Director of Christ’s Hospital School of Nursing, and DeLora Rodeen, Stormont Hospital Administrator. In the early 1980s, capping ceremonies were no longer held, but in 2016, the Commitment to Compassion pin replaced the old tradition but the symbolization remained the same: nurses pledged to uphold the values of compassionate care.
Our partnership with Baker School of Nursing reflects a long-standing tradition of nursing excellence that began over a century ago with the Christ’s Hospital and Jane C. Stormont Hospital. We are grateful to the Baker School of Nursing team for their efforts in training future nurses and for the many ways they support the community and our organization.
