Stormont Vail Health Welcomes Bridget Upton, D.O., to Topeka Emergency Department
Stormont Vail Health welcomes Bridget Upton, D.O., an emergency medicine physician, to the Stormont Vail Hospital Emergency Department at 1500 S.W. 10th Ave., Topeka.
Her ability to connect with others and provide attentive, individualized care in the fast-paced emergency room will make a positive impact on both her patients and colleagues. Dr. Upton started her medical career as a certified nursing assistant while pursuing her undergraduate degree. Her passion for helping others and working with different people encouraged her to seek her medical degree at the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Osteopathic Medicine. Driven by the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population, Dr. Upton focused her training in emergency medicine.
“The best part of emergency medicine is meeting all types of people from all different backgrounds,” Dr. Upton said. “Even though our time together is short, I enjoy learning as much as possible about their lives and what’s important to them.”
Dr. Upton completed her residency in emergency medicine at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine, which reinforced her commitment to empathy, compassion, and honesty – essential traits for treating patients in the emergency room.
As an avid gardener, Dr. Upton’s hobby reflects her approach to patient care. Like the seeds she grows, each patient relationship requires thoughtful attention and dedication to thrive. In the hectic emergency room, she prioritizes taking time to truly understand her patient’s needs so that they feel listened to and confident in their care. “Ultimately, when our encounter is done, I want to make sure they have all their questions addressed, have peace of mind, and feel they got what they wanted from coming to the ER that day,” she said.
“To Your Health” on WIBW-TV Tonight – Inspire Sleep Apnea Treatment
On tonight’s WIBW “To Your Health,” one of our patients will share her experience with Inspire therapy, which she recently received from the Pulmonary Sleep Medicine team to treat sleep apnea. Angie Brockmann, APRN, will also explain how the FDA-approved Inspire implant offers a mask-free treatment for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Tune in at 10 p.m. on WIBW-TV, Channel 13, and catch the repeat airing on Friday at 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. on 13 News This Morning. If you miss tonight’s broadcast, watch the clip on wibw.com.
Save the Date, Spread the Word, Stay Safe: Stormont Vail Annual Flu Vaccine Campaign
Stormont Vail Health offers various flu shot clinics for established Stormont Vail Health/Cotton O’Neil patients who have received a previous flu vaccination.
Stormont Vail requires yearly flu vaccinations for all team members to ensure patient and team safety. If team members receive a flu shot at a Stormont Vail Health facility or elsewhere, please notify your doctor’s office via MyChart or phone so we can update your record.
Patients who have never received a flu shot can request a vaccination when checking in for a previously scheduled appointment. The Stormont Vail Retail Pharmacy offers vaccinations to all community members, regardless of patient status. Individuals can call (785) 353-1150 for more information.
