Celebrating our Washburn Connections
Stormont Vail Health and Washburn University have been great supporters of each other over the years, with both having deep roots in the Topeka community. That continues with education and clinical program alliances, our orthopedics and sports medicine program caring for Washburn athletes, and other connections. This past weekend, the Stormont Vail Outpatient Physical Therapy Team went above and beyond and represented us on the field at the Washburn University-Missouri Southern football game, of which Stormont Vail was the sponsor. Washburn won: 42-21.
Following a great time tailgating, the Stormont Vail group attended the game and cheered on Washburn football player Kamble Haverkamp, who works part-time at Stormont Vail’s Kanza Physical Therapy around his school and sports schedule. Stormont Vail has more than 130 physical, occupational and speech therapists who work for us in our acute care hospitals in Topeka and Junction City, and four outpatient therapy clinics in Topeka and Carbondale. While we provide services to a number of schools and athletes in the region, it was great to recognize how our team values its relationship with Washburn Athletics and the university.
Thank you to our team members who attended the Washburn game as our representatives. We appreciate the high level of care and dedication these team members provide to their patients on a daily basis.
“To Your Health” on WIBW-TV Tonight – Clinical Research Center
Sharing the 20-year story of Stormont Vail’s Clinical Research Center is the topic of tonight’s WIBW-TV “To Your Health” segment. Amy Christian, Program Manager, and Carmen Burns, Director, speak about the background of the program, and how clinical research trials contribute to the organization’s capabilities of caring for patients, now and in the future. The segment airs at 10 p.m. on WIBW-TV, Channel 13. The segment typically repeats at 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. Fridays on 13 News This Morning and is posted on wibw.com.
Congratulations to Ashley Meek, September Person of the Moment
For Ashley, a registered nurse at Stormont Vail Health’s Neuro and Spine Center in Topeka, saving and serving others comes naturally. When she and her family encountered a traffic accident, she didn’t hesitate to stop and provide life-saving care until the ambulance arrived.
Her actions and quick thinking show her backbone and embody everything the nursing profession stands for. They also reflect our second tenet: “Together, we treat every patient, visitor, and team member with compassion and dignity.”
We together,
Dr. Kenagy
