David Brosa, PA-C, Named K-State Preceptor of the Year

Congratulations to David Brosa, PA-C, Emergency Department, for being named the Preceptor of the Year by the Kansas State University Physician Assistant Class of 2025. David was honored at last night’s Stormont Vail Health All Provider Meeting when representatives of K-State PA program presented the award for the first time ever. They said David was voted for the honor by students who are in the second cohort of the program.

When the K-State PA program began, David taught some classes and now serves as a preceptor for students doing emergency department rotations. The presenters said the PA students really appreciate David because he is very personable and has helped them learn suturing, how to perform a physical exam and other skills.

Presenting the award to David from K-State were Suzanne Tarver, MHS, PA-C, Interim Clinical Director, Christine Hazlett, MPSA, PA-C, Clinical Assistant Professor, and Vivien Guevara, MPAS, PA-C, MD, Interim Program Director.

Upgraded Patient Texting Service Now Available

Stormont Vail Health has launched a new SMS texting service through Epic to improve our communication with patients. This improved system enables seamless integration with our electronic medical records and allows us to send more robust messages about visits, billing, MyChart, and other health information directly to a patient’s phone.

To use the new platform, patients must opt-in to the texting feature by:

1. Texting START to 54643
2. Updating their communication preferences in MyChart
3. Asking for help during your next visit

Patients can email [email protected] or call the MyChart Support Line at (785) 354-5430 for any questions or support.

Donate Toys for Tots, Give the Gift of Play

As we embrace the spirit of giving this holiday season, our Nutritional Services team will host our annual Toys for Tots Toy Drive. Play is a vital part of children’s cognitive development and socialization. Through this initiative, we can spread joy while supporting the well-being of children in our community!

You are invited to contribute by donating new, unwrapped toys. You can drop them off at the Sunflower Terrace Café through Dec. 17.Your generosity will help bring holiday cheer and creative play to children in shelters, safe houses, and hospitals. Thank you for your continued support and helping us create a brighter holiday season for those in need!

We together,

Dr. Kenagy
