Stormont Vail and Cardiology Team Receives Top Recognitions

Stormont Vail Health was recently informed of two special recognitions that highlight our organization, specifically our cardiology team, for commitment to high quality cardiovascular care.

Validating the great care the Stormont Vail team provides patients with heart failure, the organization was recognized by the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines national registry. The Topeka hospital earned the Get With The Guidelines – Heart Failure GOLD PLUS with Target: Heart Failure Honor Roll and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll.

Hospitals that earn the Get With The Guidelines – Heart Failure quality achievement award demonstrate a commitment to treating patients according to the most up-to-date guidelines as outlined by the American Heart Association. The AHA noted, “This achievement brings national attention to Stormont Vail Health for improving patient care and deserves to be celebrated.”

The American College of Cardiology also recently announced that Stormont Vail Health is again the recipient of the ACC/NCDR Platinum Performance Achievement Award for Chest Pain – MI Registry.

This award program recognizes hospitals participating in the registry who have demonstrated sustained, top level performance in quality of care and adherence to guideline recommendations. Through full participation in the registry, hospitals engage in a robust quality improvement process, using data to drive improvements and positively impact patient outcomes for heart attack patients. The recognition highlights the great care provided by our teams in Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, Intensive Care Unit, Medical Surgical, Telemetry and Cath Lab.

Thank you to the teams who provide this great care – and congratulations on this wonderful recognition.

“To Your Health” on WIBW-TV Tonight – New, Enhanced and Patient-centered MRI

A new, faster and more versatile magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system will be available this month to serve patients and the community at the Stormont Vail Imaging Center, 731 S.W. Mulvane, Topeka. Stormont Vail’s new imaging technology is the topic of tonight’s WIBW-TV “To Your Health” segment.

The Imaging Center has been undergoing a major upgrade this summer to offer services with the new Siemens Sola 1.5T system. It will provide for neurologic, angiography, cardiac, breast, body, oncology, pediatric, and orthopedic imaging, allowing for faster exams with greater diagnostic confidence.

The Siemens Sola 1.5T has a short and open bore design to reduce patient anxiety and claustrophobia along with an integrated patient audio system for added comfortability. It also will provide for exceptional imaging at a magnetic field strength that ultimately allows for less restrictions for patients and their implants and devices.

The WIBW segment featuring the enhanced imaging system will air at 10 p.m. on WIBW-TV, Channel 13. The segment typically repeats at 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. Fridays on 13 News This Morning and is posted on wibw.com.

We together,
Dr. Kenagy
