Dr. Molly Disbrow Appears on KMAN Radio to Talk About GI Health
Molly Disbrow, M.D., a gastroenterologist at the Stormont Vail Manhattan Campus, appeared on Within Reason With Mike Matson on KMAN Radio/Podcast last week to talk about digestive health and the importance of screening for colorectal cancer. With one in 24 people diagnosed with colorectal cancer in their lifetime, it is the second deadliest cancer in the country; however, it’s highly preventable.
Dr. Disbrow, who grew up in Manhattan and returned there to practice after her medical training, explains digestive health is important to overall health, and if people have medical concerns they should contact a gastroenterologist or their primary care provider. She also explained how technology is advancing GI screenings and care that people are receiving in her field of medicine. Thank you, Dr. Disbrow, for representing Stormont Vail on the radio show/podcast that airs weekdays at 9 a.m. on News Radio KMAN. Thank you, Dr. Disbrow, for making a difference and sharing important information about health and wellness to our community.
Dr. Libby Rosen Shares Insights about Women’s Health on WIBW-TV
Libby Rosen, Ph.D., RN, Dean of the Baker School of Nursing, was a guest on WIBW-TV’s Eye on NE Kansas last week to reflect on her career that helped develop Stormont Vail Health’s maternal support programs during her decades as a nurse and leader. Libby emphasized the importance of giving new parents choices and education about childbirth and beyond. She now focuses on preparing nursing school students for their important work as a nurse.
Libby was one of several guests invited to the WIBW studio in March to celebrate Women’s History Month. The television station recognized women who have worked to build, lead and care for communities. During her interview with News Director Melissa Brunner, Libby reflected on changes in women’s health over the years, and how there is now more awareness and education about women’s health, and an understanding of the importance for self-care. Thank you, Libby, for being a great representative of Stormont Vail and Baker School of Nursing.
Congratulations to DAISY Award Winner Rachel Luthi
The DAISY Award honors and recognizes nurses who go above and beyond in providing exceptional care and compassion to their patients. Rachel Luthi, an APRN at our Weight Management Center in Topeka, made a profound difference in the life of a patient on their weight loss journey.
“From our first interaction, Rachel made me feel safe, listened to, and cared for. She didn’t just address my weight—she helped me understand the root cause of my binge eating and provided the vocabulary I needed to articulate my struggles,” the patient stated in their nomination. “Thanks to Rachel, I have not only made progress in my weight loss journey but have also improved my mental health. She truly saved my life.” Read Rachel’s full nomination.
