“To Your Health” on WIBW-TV Tonight – A NICU Story
Each time we encounter a person we have the opportunity to make a lasting impression. Hear the story of a family of a newborn who spent her first four weeks in the Stormont Vail Health’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, before she was transferred to Children’s Mercy in Kansas City for surgeries and additional care.
After spending her first year of life hospitalized, the baby is finally home. Her mother says the hospital team members at Stormont Vail and Children’s Mercy “have become like family to us,” and the community of support surrounding the family is bigger than they could have imagined. The story will air on tonight’s WIBW-TV “To Your Health” at 10 p.m. on Channel 13. The segment will typically repeat at 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. Fridays on 13 News This Morning and be posted on wibw.com.
Celebrating Inclusion During Pride Month
Stormont Vail Health is dedicated to diversity, equity and inclusion each day as part of providing safe, full, and quality healthcare. We celebrate Pride Month because we want to support our team members, patients and loved ones who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community. We strive to ensure all of those who are in our facilities feel safe and comfortable.
From our New Employee Orientation, which provides a friendly and inclusive start for our new team members to inclusive employee benefits and resources, we embrace individuals who enrich our collective being. Stormont Vail supports team members by covering domestic partners/same-sex partners on employee benefits, supports adoption, and offers childcare for children of all team members. Team members and patients also have the opportunity to share their preference for pronouns in an effort to be an affirming and caring environment.
Pronoun Additions Available for Badges
Pronoun options you can add to your I.D. badge are available to Stormont Vail Health team members. These optional additions are a great way to identify your preferred pronouns to team members and patients alike. If you want one for your badge, please contact Angela Wright in the Security Office at the Topeka Hospital, or email Angela at [email protected] to receive yours via inter-office mail.
Amber Groeling Interviewed About Weight Management
Quick fixes for obesity that people find on social media can be unsafe and likely not sustainable, according to Amber Groeling, program manager for the Stormont Vail Weight Management Center. Amber was interviewed for a recent news story on WIBW-TV in which she shared the importance of following a medically-based program and not fad dieting.
We together,
Dr. K
