Stormont Vail Volunteer Recognized with Ad Astra Honor
Congratulations to Stormont Vail volunteer Maya Perez, who received the United Way of Kaw Valley’s 2023 Ad Astra Service to the Community Youth Honor (age 21 and younger). Maya began volunteering at Stormont Vail in May 2019, helping in various departments during the summers. Among the areas she has volunteered are Perioperative, Physical Rehabilitation, Emergency Department and the Infusion Center.
Ad Astra honors community members who continually go above and beyond the call to support those in need. Candidates must meet specific criteria, including more than 25 verified hours of community service in an impact area, including health. Congratulations, Maya, and thank you for choosing Stormont Vail to be a volunteer.
We Together Celebrate Emergency Nurses Week
Emergency Nurses Week takes place each year during the second week of October. This weeklong observance recognizes the crucial care emergency nurses provide their communities. We are immensely proud of our Emergency Department and want to acknowledge every team member’s contributions. We are grateful for your resilience and diligence.
As emergency personnel, you face many challenges, and no day follows the same routine, but you persist. Time and again, you have continuously demonstrated exceptional collaboration and camaraderie throughout numerous challenges. We appreciate your strength in the face of adversity and wish you a happy Emergency Nurses Week!
Stormont Vail Sponsoring WIBW-TV Job Fair in Manhattan
The WIBW-TV Job Fair will be taking the show on the road to Manhattan this week, and Stormont Vail Health is the presenting sponsor. After successful events in Topeka, WIBW decided to reach a wider area by hosting a job fair in Manhattan. It will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Hilton Garden Inn, 410 S. 3rd Street, Manhattan. A list of companies participating is on the WIBW-TV website.
Tiffany Beyer, Talent Acquisition Manager, recently was on WIBW-TV to talk about the upcoming job fair and explained it is a great way to connect with prospective employees about career opportunities at Stormont Vail.
2023 National Prescription Take Back Day is Oct. 28
The Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Take Back Day will be Saturday, Oct. 28. This event offers a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of prescription drugs. It’s also a great opportunity for law enforcement and advocacy groups to educate the public about the potential for medication abuse.
