Michael Lexow, M.D., Named Vice President, Primary Care
Michael Lexow, M.D., has been promoted to Vice President, Primary Care, at Stormont Vail Health.
In addition to the excellent care Dr. Lexow provides our community through his primary care practice, we have valued his insight and contributions the past six months as he served in an interim capacity on Operating Committee. He steps into this promotion already attuned to the opportunities and challenges we face as an organization and will bring great perspective as we develop solutions and serve our communities.
Dr. Lexow will continue seeing patients, but with his increased administrative duties he will be assisted by a team of skilled Advanced Practice Providers at the Asbury Clinic.
Dr. Lexow joined the Cotton O’Neil Clinic in 2008 as a Family Medicine Physician. He is an Emporia native and prior to joining Stormont Vail practiced at a medical clinic in Lansing, Kan. He received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Wichita, in 1999, and completed a family medicine residency in Topeka in 2002. Congratulations, Dr. Lexow!
Nikhil Mehta, M.D., Joins the Stormont Vail Health Cardiology Team
Stormont Vail Health proudly welcomes cardiac electrophysiologist Nikhil Mehta, M.D., to the Cotton O’Neil Heart Center in Topeka.
As a self-described “electrician of the heart,” Dr. Mehta diagnoses, treats, and manages various heart rhythm problems so patients can return to their previous quality of life.
“I enjoy listening to patients, understanding what’s bothering them and offering solutions tailored specifically for them. I’m here to make an impact on people’s lives and in this community. I hope to learn from each and every patient encounter since, as a physician, my career is a constant learning opportunity.”
Dr. Mehta’s empathy and bedside manner will go a long way to delivering the industry-leading experience patients expect at Stormont Vail. We’re glad to have you on the team!
Grand Opening: Stormont Vail Health Manhattan Campus
Please join us this week in Manhattan to celebrate the grand opening of Stormont Vail Health’s newest campus! Team members and family are invited to a sneak peek of the Manhattan Campus on Aug. 17 from 4-6 p.m. Come take a tour, enjoy treats and refreshments from Radina’s Coffeehouse, meet the Manhattan team, and learn about the state-of-the-art amenities in this building. We also invite you back the following day as we host a ribbon cutting ceremony on Aug. 18 at 10 a.m. to celebrate this milestone. The building is located at 1325 Research Park Drive – it’s on top of the hill on Manhattan Avenue, once you’re on that road – you can’t miss it!
Walk with a Doc – Dr. Hailey Avila and Michael Ramirez, MS, ATC, LAT
Walk with a Doc is a fun and safe place to hear briefly about an important health topic and enjoy a walk outside with a physician each month. Join Dr. Hailey Avila on Saturday, Aug. 19, as we learn about sports and how to prevent injuries with her and Michael Ramirez, MS, ATC, LAT, Rehabilitation Services System Director. Participants should meet at the east side of Lee Arena at Washburn University.
The walk is open to the community. Participation is free and pre-registration is not required.
According to the American Heart Association, walking as little as 30 minutes a day can provide the following benefits:
- Improve blood pressure and blood sugar levels
- Help maintain a healthy body weight and lower the risk of obesity
- Enhance mental well-being
- Reduce the risk of osteoporosis
We together,
Dr. K
