Welcome Kellum Schneider, M.D., to Manhattan
We are proud to welcome Kellum Schneider, M.D., to our Family Medicine team in Manhattan!
Dr. Schneider grew up in Tribune, a small town in western Kansas. He attended the University of Kansas where he received a Bachelor’s of Science in Genetics. He then received a medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed his Family Medicine Residency at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Grand Junction, Colo.
“There’s a term that a former mentor used to say,” Dr. Schneider explained. “‘Unconditional positive regard.’ I want my patients to feel better about themselves, to feel like they enjoy their day a little bit more, and to feel like they get to do the things that they want to do.”
Dr. Schneider practices this by staying curious, being non-judgmental, and caring for people in an empathetic manner. Welcome, Dr. Kellum Schneider! We are honored to have you on our team!
Jonathan Dompeling, D.O., Joins Stormont Vail ED
Stormont Vail Health is proud to announce that Jonathan Dompeling, D.O., is joining our team to practice as an emergency medicine physician, located at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.
Dr. Dompeling grew up in the Chicagoland suburbs and attended Loyola University in Chicago, Ill., and Dominican University, River Forest, Ill., where he earned both a Bachelor of Science in biology and a Bachelor of Medical Science. He later attended Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, where he earned his doctor of osteopathic medicine.
“I was always interested in the sciences and as I grew up, I wanted to be more involved in the health sciences,” Dr. Dompeling said. “Becoming an emergency medical provider was a great way to coordinate my interest in health science and my need for personal interaction.” Dr. Dompeling credits his ability of being both mentally and emotionally flexible as a reason he exceeds as an emergency medicine provider.
When not working, Dr. Dompeling enjoys spending time with his wife and their dog. He loves high-energy activities such as backpacking, mountaineering, hiking, running and playing sports. However, he also enjoys slowing down by relaxing on the couch with a good book or playing board games with friends and family.
Thank You to Team Members who Volunteer in the Community
In honor of International Volunteer Day, we want to give kudos to those of our Stormont Vail Health team members who go out into our community and volunteer.
Belinda Underhill, NICU Nurse Manager, is the embodiment of “selfless.” Not only does she spend long hours in the NICU, taking care of our tiniest patients and their families, but she volunteers for two different non-profits as well.
Read more about the time Belinda gives and the amazing opportunities she has had along the way on in our latest Stormont Vail blog here.
It makes us proud to have team members who utilize their free time for the betterment of our community. Thank you to all of those who volunteer. If you are looking for volunteer opportunities to share your time and talents, check out the growing list of opportunities here!
